Check out just a few of Marie and Mike's Road Trip Pictures across the US. We started the trip on Saturday, October 1, 2005 and completed the trip on Saturday, October 8, 2005. Definitely the best vacation I have ever had...We saw a full range of weather from hot and muggy in the East to a 12 inch snow storm in West...Some places you never want to see again, to places we never wanted to leave...It was the ultimate "field trip"...
Here was the progression...
Day 1. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana (Sleep in South Bend-Notre dame)
Day 2.Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota (Sleep in Sioux Falls)
Day 3. South Dakota, See the badlands, the black hills, Lewis and Clark Trail, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Needles Highway (Sleep in Hill City)
Day 4. Lead, Deadwood, Spearfish, Spearfish Canyon, Devils Tower (a very rainy Devils Tower) in to a sleeting, then heavy snow storm in Gilette Wyoming...snowed in...
Day 5. Big Horn Mountains, to Cody Wyoming...the Entrance to Yellow Stone...(Sleep in Cody)
Day 6. Drive through Yellow Stone, and the Grand Tetons...(Sleep in Jackson/aka Jackson Hole)
Day 7. Drive back through the Grand Tetons, through Yellow Stone, Exit Yellow stone into Montana (Sleep in Butte, Montana)
Day 8. Drive through the rest of Montana, Idaho (home of Napoleon Dynamite), Washington and arrive in Seattle at 4pm west coast time...
